Popular Maharashtra Packages

The country’s third-largest state, Maharashtra in west India, is often known as the “Gateway to the heart of India.” With the Western Ghats on one side and the Konkan coast on the other, the state is known for its metropolitan cities, picturesque hill stations, beaches, and so much more. Embark on a remarkable journey of exploring the state’s different destinations with Holidify’s multitude of Maharashtra travel packages.

Maharashtra’s diverse topography means that it has something to offer to all kinds of tourists. Places like Mumbai, Lonavala, Panchgani, Pune, Nashik, Shirdi, Aurangabad, Mahabaleshwar and Nagpur are some of the state’s most popular tourist destinations.
Mumbai, the “City of Dreams,” is the capital city and one of India’s biggest metropolitan cities.

Known for its glamour and heritage, it’s home to several colonial establishments like the Gateway of India, Prince of Wales Museum, The Taj Mahal Palace and Rajabai Clock Tower. Spend some time at Juhu Beach, take a walk on the Marine Drive, explore the Elephanta Caves and shop on Colaba Causeway. Do treat yourself to mouth-watering food like vada pav, pav bhaji, misal pav, puran poli and sol kadhi while you are here.

Maharashtra tour packages often include Shirdi, a holy city that is said to be the home of Sai Baba. Thousands flock to Shirdi to attend darshans at the Shri Sai Baba Sansthan Temple and visit the Samadhi Mandir and Khandoba Mandir. It’s known for Gurusthan, where Sai Baba first appeared as a 16-year-old, as well as Dwarkamai and Chavadi, where he spent his last years.

Besides the metropolitan cities, your trip to Maharashtra should also include a visit to its picturesque hill stations like Lonavala! Trek up to Tiger’s Leap for prepossessing views of the green valleys, explore the Rajmachi Fort, go to Lonavala Lake for swimming and bird watching or spend some time at the Karla Caves one of India’s oldest Buddhist cave shrines.

Deriving its name from the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, Aurangabad serves as the base for exploring the Ajanta and Ellora Caves which are rock-cut caves associated with Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism. The city is renowned for Bibi ka Maqbara which resembles the Taj Mahal, the scenic Salim Ali Lake where you can watch the sunset, Grishneshwar Temple and Siddharth Garden. Don’t forget to visit Aurangzeb’s tomb about 25km from the city.

The best time to plan your trip to Maharashtra is during the winter months of October to February since the weather is pleasantly cool and suitable for sightseeing. You would need at least 7-10 days to tour Maharashtra’s major destinations. Hotels, resorts, guesthouses, homestays and more provide lodging.
